Welcome to the family
To celebrate their first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, Qantas wanted to stream ‘Great Southern Land’s’ inaugural flight from Seattle to Sydney via a Facebook live feed. The challenge? This had never been done before.
THE IDEA
A world-first
No solution existed to broadcast a real-time in-flight experience. So, we developed a bespoke tracking API which integrated air traffic data, topographical mapping and screen capture functionality into an engaging piece of creative.

A long way to fly
To ensure our audience stayed interested in the stream, we animated a series of videos highlighting exciting facts about the Dreamliner's technology, performance and luxury features that would pop up at regular intervals.

The future is on its way
For the feed itself, we created an animated version of the Dreamliner and tracked its movement in real-time as it made its way across the world under the eyes of over a million people.
